Direct current, losses & cost
DC charging transfers more energy in a short time and helps on long trips. Since DC is supplied directly to the battery, the onboard AC charger is bypassed and the short duration can limit auxiliary consumption.

The platform has no commercial relationship with any charging operator or vehicle manufacturer. All data is compiled from publicly available sources and updated regularly. Use is completely free and requires no registration.
How to Use
In the Table view at the top tab, you can see all operators' AC and DC unit prices in sorted order. Filter by country, operator, or price range.
In the Calculator tab, enter your vehicle's battery capacity and current charge level to get a realistic charging cost estimate. Efficiency losses are automatically factored in.
In the Chart Analysis tab, you can visually compare operators and easily find the cheapest option.
What is the Difference Between AC and DC Charging?
AC (Alternating Current) charging works through the vehicle's on-board charger (OBC). Power typically ranges from 3.7 kW to 22 kW. Ideal for overnight home or workplace charging.
DC (Direct Current) fast charging connects directly to the battery, bypassing the OBC. With power levels from 50 kW up to 350 kW, it provides significant range gains in 20–45 minutes. Unit price is generally higher than AC.

How is charging cost calculated?
Basic formula: (Target kWh − Current kWh) × Unit Price × (1 + Loss Rate). Loss rate is 10–15% for AC and 5–10% for DC.

What does EV mean?
EV stands for Electric Vehicle. It is the general name for vehicles powered fully or partly by an electric motor. Main types include BEV battery electric vehicles, PHEV plug-in hybrids, HEV conventional hybrids, and FCEV hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles. On EVCcost, EV usually refers to BEV models because charging prices and kWh costs mainly apply to fully electric vehicles.
